We are excited to share that Izard County STEM School has received a nearly $7,000 Commitment to Excellence in STEM Education Grant from The Arkansas STEM Coalition, in partnership with the Arkansas Committed to Education Foundation. Thank you to Courtney Selph for her time and efforts in preparing and submitting the grant application! Funds will be used to purchase a new set of Spheros for the elementary campus, as well as a set of Oz bots.
The Arkansas STEM Coalition explained that scores were based on a combination of required elements and documents being submitted, quality of timeline, quality of learning standards, quality of project narrative, and quality of budget. Points were also awarded based on the number of participating grades, percentage of eligible students participating, School District Low-Income/Free & Reduced Lunch Percentage, percentage of students scoring at level 3 or 4 in Combined Science and Combined Math ATLAS Test Scores, School Letter Grade, and if and when a school previously received this grant.

Pinkston Photography will be at the elementary by 7:45 AM for yearbook photos on Thursday, October 1st. As soon as they are done there, they will get setup at the middle/high school. If you were absent on the original yearbook photo day, or have requested a retake, please be ready tomorrow morning.

The OEP creates an annual report entitled the Outstanding Educational Performance Awards, recognizing schools with high student academic growth, as growth is one of the best indicators of the positive impact that schools are having on students.

Congratulations to Trenton Gilbreath for finishing 6th overall today in the District Golf Tournament at Russellville Country Club. Trenton had a career best 10 pars on his round and qualified for the Boys State Golf Tournament to be held at Diamondhead Country Club in Hot Springs the first week of October.
The Lady Cougars finished 4th overall in the team standings today at Russellville Country Club, Carsen Cooper led the way for the Lady Cougars with a 9th place overall finish individually, followed by Addie Tanner in 12th, McKayla Ice in 15th, and Chesney Helm with a 16th place finish.
Way to go, Cougars!
