We had five students recognized on the big stage at state convention for participating in the World Food Prize competition. Those students were Hayden Shaver, Payson Speake, Maylea Stevens, Maddie Tanner, and Makaelynn Wood.
Students who participate in the Arkansas Youth Institute earn recognition as a Borlaug Scholar, and qualify for internships and further opportunities.
At this exciting event, participating high school students have the opportunity to:
Present research and recommendations on ways to solve key global challenges in a short speech and small group discussions with statewide experts;
Connect with other student leaders from across Arkansas to share ideas, identify solutions to these problems and build lasting friendships;
Explore the issues, current research and opportunities to make a difference at the University of Arkansas; and
Interact with global leaders, innovators and entrepreneurs in Arkansas working to end hunger and poverty and improve food security around the world.
Papers were evaluated by The World Food Prize Board of Reviewers. This distinguished group of educators and experts was established to mentor and personally encourage students as well as interviewed participants in a group discussion setting.
We are so proud of these students for their hard work and pushing them selves out of their comfort zones in the hopes of making a global impact. Good job everyone! We are proud of you!

We are currently at the Arkansas FFA State Convention. Yesterday we sent Chapter President, Akynna Nielsen on stage to accept the National Chapter Award on behalf of ICC FFA!
This award recognizes FFA chapters that actively implement the mission and strategies of the organization. It also emphasizes growing leaders, building communities and strengthening agriculture as well as providing educational experiences! Congratulations, ICC FFA!

Congratulations to upcoming Class of 2025 graduate, Addi Sutherland!
After graduation, Addi plans to pursue a career in Criminology working in the Criminal Investigations Division.
When asked about the teacher who has had the greatest impact on her, Addi said, "Officer Brett. No matter what color the world was in my eyes, he always made me see through to a future. What I mean by that is the support system he carried me with and the faith he had made me see that I could do anything I wanted to do. He’s taught me that anything is possible and that your future holds more than your past."
Addi, we'll miss your sweet personality and great attitude. We love that you're always willing to learn, and we're confident that this trait can take you very far in life. We look forward to following your successes in the next chapter! Congratulations!

Willow is a very active student in our district. She plays on the Cougars' volleyball and softball teams, and she managed the Senior Lady Cougars Basketball team. She also participates in BETA Club, CHASE, Student Council, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Willow said that a lot of her favorite memories revolve around high school spirit weeks. She said, "Homecoming in high school was always so exciting! I loved seeing everyone dressed up, football games and I loved walking as a maid and feeling so pretty. It was so amazing seeing everyone participating in the school spirit."
After high school, Willow plans to further her education at Ozarka College and become an Ultrasound Tech.
Willow, we thank you for all you've given at ICHS! Thank you for being a leader in your many clubs and sports, and thank you for your generous, compassionate heart. We're going to miss your smile and kindness at school, but we are excited to follow the success you'll have in your future! Best wishes!

The #CougarSeniorSpotlight shines brightly on upcoming graduate Xander McCandlis!
As a student-athlete at Izard County, Xander has been very actively involved in the Cougar baseball, football, basketball, bowling, and chess teams.
When asked about his most impactful teacher, Xander said, "The teacher with the biggest impact on me has been Mrs. Faulkner. She pushes me to be better every day, and has believed in me since the very first time I took one of her classes."
After high school, Xander plans to further both his academic and athletic careers at NorthArk College. He plans to become a coach.
Xander, we're so proud of you. Your work ethic, your courageous ability persevere and overcome, and your positive outlook on life are among the many things that we'll miss about having you in the halls at ICHS.
